The Big One Review 2018
This year’s event saw a complete change from the marquee of previous years. Instead we had a purpose built structure, which seemed to go on forever. Perhaps more directional signs showing positions of exhibitors next year would save my poor old aching legs and feet, as I always seemed to continually head off in the opposite direction!!!
With parking difficulties not withstanding, the show once more generated plenty of prizes for our Junior match scene, from some very generous companies. To show our appreciation, we’ve created a picture gallery of those who we approached and supported us. I hope in the future our juniors, parents and members will do likewise when they’re out shopping in their local tackle shop and repay the favours!
The GAS stand saw quite a bit of interest, from both senior, junior and young adults alike at the Big One. We emphasised the Young Adults Membership by having some of our own juniors/young adults going round the show promoting it with specially printed leaflets, and it seemed to raise a lot of interest.
Left: The GAS ‘gang of nine’ were on hand to give advice and info on both days at the Big One.
Right: Bait-Tech were the first we approached and Managing Director Hayley Goldsmith was only too pleased to support us with 2 big buckets crammed with lots of quality Bait-Tech goodies.
Left: ‘New kids on the block’, Blake’s Baits gave groundbaits and super smelly hookers to the juniors. There were also some old friends helping owner Peter Cox out (far right) on the stand.
Right: Matrix/Fox donated some bait boxes and terminal tackle with legend Mark ‘Polly’ Pollard rubbing shoulders with yours truly!
Left: Ex-police officer turned Cresta tackle guru, Stuart Lister, sorted out some terminal gear for the juniors.
The crew of Spottedfin are doing very well since they set up a couple of years ago. Top rated products from Russ Grimes (on my left) and England international Simon Willsmore (absent from photo)
Fantastic items for the kids goodie bags from the guys at Guru.
Plenty to get them hooked onto fishing!!!
And those Guru boys are such a happy bunch.
Thanks to all of them for their support.
