Match fishing update
Sun 20th December 2020. Following the announcement of new tiers and rules I have no choice but to suspend club matches until further notice. Although most GAS waters are in Waverley borough tier 2 and matches are still possible if all the strict criteria for running the is followed it is difficult to see how we can still follow the conditions for holding matches set out in a method statement we have to follow. I myself (Match Sec Roger Howe) am in tier 4 as are most members in the south east and are not allowed to move into lower tier areas. Individual fishing is still allowed but you must not leave or enter a tier 3 or 4 area to do so. We have know way of knowing how long the new situation will last but i will inform you when there is a change and we can resume again. If we all act responsibly hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. Have a good Christmas and new year but above all stay safe.
Resumption of matches following the end of the one month lockdown
Matches will resume under the same tier two rules as before lockdown. This means Rolling draws and social distancing measures will continue for the foreseeable future. The first match will be on the R Wey on Sun 6th hopefully at Salgasson if parking is confirmed. Once sure I will leave message on match line 01483 415386. As draws will be rolling please make certain you have booked in on the matchline in the proper manner, do not rely on Roger remembering you booking in on the previous match day as we need to know exact numbers turning up.
Ladies National Championship
Saturday 3rd October 2020, Marsh Farm, Milford. 19 fished.
This re-arranged fixture was fished on a dour Harris Lake at Marsh Farm in Milford. 2 days of heavy rain, which eventually stopped an hour into this match, turned this into a tough match for most. The lakes rudd and roach stock virtually switched off across the whole lake leaving most of the ladies to sit and wait for quality fish.
Charlotte Gore topped out with 8.325Kg of crucians and tench on the long pole from peg 3 to be crowned the Ladies National Champion 2020. Not too far behind was Samantha Sim who caught crucians also on the long pole at peg 17 for 7.075Kg and at the next peg 15 Kayleigh Smith caught crucians and tench for 6.250Kg.
The Angling Trust would like to thank Godalming AS for the use of the venue and Roger Howe and his team for helping out in running the match. Next years match is to be fished at Packington Somers on Saturday 17th July 2021.
